Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse
Yum.....steak! I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil on 3 occasions so anytime I get the opportunity to chow on some Pacana and drink a caparaina I'm all over it. Yesterday was even more special as it was our wedding anniversary.
Brasa is located on Brier Creek Parkway in North Raleigh. It's tucked away in the shopping center and, since we were unfamiliar with the area, it took us a minute to find it. The valet who met us at the door ran to our car and was very patient while we got our young daughter out of the car.
Inside, Brasa is nicely laid out with an ample bar area. In the dining room is a background water feature and the table are nicely spaced so as not to overcrowd.
On to the food....the hot/cold bar had a nice selection of dishes. The plantains were excellent. We ordered a couple of drinks and although, the caparaina was good my wife did not enjoy the margarita. I have to say I agree. There just was no flavor in it.
The meats were very good. We are coming from Chicago - the land of beef - so that's our frame of reference. Chicago has some of the best steakhouses including several Brazilian-style rodizo's like Fogo de Chao and Brazzaz (different than Brasa). I wouldn't call Brasas the best I've ever had, but I certainly did enjoy it. I expected more flavor in some of the meats. Pacana is cooked with rock salt and I could taste it, but wasn't flavorful enough for me.
The service was excellent. Our waitress and gaucho were right on time with drink refills and attending to us. Kudos to them!
Overall our experience was good. I'd have to give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. We will go back and try it again to see how it stand up to the test of time.
Don't forget to make reservations - 919-544-3344. Oh, and kids under 4 eat for free!
Have you been to Brasa? What do you think about it?
